SCLD

Who we are

Scottish Commission for People with Learning Disabilities (SCLD) is an independent charitable organisation and partner to the Scottish Government in the delivery of Scotland’s learning disability strategy, The keys to life. SCLD is committed to creating an environment in Scotland in which systems and culture are changed to ensure people with learning disabilities have opportunities and are empowered to live the life they want in line with existing human rights conventions and participate fully in society on an equal basis.

Who we support

People with learning disabilities.

Why we’re an Apt partner

Many people with learning disabilities want to work and are able to work. However, they face significant challenges and barriers to finding work, remaining in work and progressing in work. The employment rate for people with learning disabilities is incredibly low even in comparison to other groups who are disadvantaged in the labour market. SCLD is committed to working alongside third sector partners and with employers across Scotland to help overcome the barriers to employment people with disabilities experience.
